Graco Stroller Recall Due to Finger Amputation January 20, 2010
Our Michigan child injury lawyers are reporting that Graco Children’s Products Inc. has recalled 1.5 million strollers sold at Wal-Mart, Target, Babies R Us, and other major retailers. They were sold from October 2004 to December 2009 and include certain model numbers of its Passage, Alano and Spree Strollers and Travel Systems. The hinges on their product is causing children’s fingertips to be amputated. This is the second largest recall of strollers in recent months. 1 million Maclaren strollers were recalled this past November.
Graco’s strollers received reports of five children having their fingertips severed and two children receiving cuts on their fingertips. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), “the strollers pose an amputation and laceration hazard to children when opening or closing the canopy of the stroller.”
The government has advised consumers to stop using the strollers and contact Graco to receive a free repair kit. If you own a Graco stroller, you should call 800-345-4109 to get more information. The model numbers and manufacture dates of the stroller are on the lower inside portion of the rear frame.
